A student teacher from the Teacher Education Department was engaged in a radio interview explaining some issues that only students enrolled in this department are facing. The main issue that was discussed was the only entrance to the building and how it affects both the students who are drivers and those who are not. Another matter arose in the midst of the interview, when it was reported that Internet access is blocked and cannot be accessed by students in the said department.

How can Podcasts be used for classroom instruction
Podcast can significantly benefit auditory learners and help them in their learning. It can also be used to help students develop important skills like researching, writing, speaking effectively, managing time, and improving their vocabulary.

Portfolio Reflection

This podcast was made using the Audacity App. The podcast will be used to make a presentation  during a joint meeting with the  management and all stakeholders of ABIIT, concerning issues that are being faced by the students in the Teacher Education Department. I faced many challenges during the production of this podcast. Firstly, the uncertainty of what specific issue to discuss, because there were so many. Not having much experience using audacity I found it time consuming to compile then to edit the data to fit into a specific time frame. It would have been wonderful to produce something based on my own interests. Putting it on the blog was another difficulty all by itself. Doing this felt like trial and error. However, learning something new was the exciting part. It could be improved by having the participants sounding more natural and conversational. A brief commercial would have added some interest also.

Process Followed

To make this podcast we grouped ourselves in threes. We then brainstormed the possible issues that could be discussed.  A script was written and the various parts were chosen by each person. Initially each person recorded their own voice using their personal device (cell phones). After we realised that this route would be time consuming ( in terms of editing) we opted to do one straight recording .It was then placed on Audacity where it was edited using the tools provided in the app.

This specific topic was chosen because it affects all of us and it is not an issue that is spoken of publicly, but in the privacy of our small groups that are formed in the various classroom. We often hear many unfortunate stories of rainy and sick days experiences. We found it to be a common issue among classmates so we took the opportunity to voice it publicly in the hopes that the Management at ABBIT would consider and eventually make feasible arrangements for at least an additional entrance and exit be made available.
